Tao/Ki

About my methodology and dance:

It´s the result of the studies and exploration of human beings, the energy and the body movement, through different traditional oriental vision of the body-mind, the spirit in the Life...like Taoist systems, five elements theory (tcm), Japanese butoh dance, the use of Qi (Qi Gong), and zen meditation.
Ki dance it´s the result of all that investigation.
An holistic system to create a body-mind-spirit in harmony.
What I use to keep that balance and healthiness:

  • Hara connection (energetic center)
  • Qi Gong exercises
  • Yin-Yang
  • Five elements (tcm)
  • Taoist nature and the 8 direction, Tao yin methodology.
  • Free body, natural movement and butoh dance
  • Zen meditation

TAOISM
What is health?
For the Chinese tradition, health means interior harmony that radiates outwards, and global body and soul balance.
Taoism is concerned with preserving health.
Health also means developing the ability to find the right balance for each specific life situation.
Health is something very personal, it depends on each person.
The Tao offers suggestions and recommendations. So each individual can determines what is most appropriate habits and exercises to stay healthy.
The conscious health that is called.
Health is something that you are primarily responsible for.

Tao means, way or natural law. It was developed in ancient China at least two or three thousand years ago. More known since the time of the wise Lao Tzu.
Tao is both a philosophy of life and a form of religion. Tao is a Cosmo vision that contemplates life as a mystery, we could also consider it a science of life.

They discovered that the same regulatory principles are valid for all things in this world, and how they are related to each other. Included to the human being.

The human organism is a part of the cosmos and the cosmos manifests itself in the human body.

The human being is the link between Heaven and Earth. Tao is the Mother of all things, but all things return to Tao. The goal of the Taoists is to be one with the Tao, to flow in that current of the Tao.

Taoism includes all areas of life:

The state government
Martial arts, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Qi Gong.
Medicine, TCM
The doctrine of the meridians
Astrology, Feng Shui, the I Ching
The meditation
The 5 elements
The food according to the 5 elements
The energetic Taoist work and the sexual doctrine.
The book Tao Te King

These are examples of global doctrines and healing methods that have their origin in Taoism and are widely recognized and used today.

Tao is a path of transformation
Transformation means conversion of energies, emotions and situations ... for example transforming negative emotions into vital force, expand models of restrictive thoughts, dissolve energetic blocks…
Taoism opens access to inner strength.

The global health model

The Taoist Octagon was defined eight aspects of the basic pillars of Taoist health. (defined by Dr. Stephen T. Chang).

  1. The Tao of philosophy and of the energetic doctrine. Health starts in your head, questioning yourself and seeking the meaning of life. Have the necessary knowledge to lead a healthy life, as well as the energetic doctrine and motivation.
  2. The Tao of revitalization. All the practices that serve to conserve and maintain health, for example TaiChi, Qi Gong, Yoga, Kung Fu, Meditation, Dance. Exercises that harmonize and put the body in relation to the spirit.
  3. The Tao of balanced feeding. Adjust the feeding to the theory of the 5 elements and the Yin Yang, taking into account each individual, the seasons of the year and the vital circumstances.
  4. The Tao of medicinal plants. The use of medicinal plants as additional support
  5. The Tao of the healing arts. Acupuncture, acupressure, energetic massage, energy work ...
  6. The Tao of sexual wisdom. The ability to use sexual energy, how to conserve, increase and convert it into a healing force.
  7. The Tao of help practices to live. Astrology, Feng Shui, Chiromancy, diagnosis by the face.To determine the strengths or weaknesses, the currents and the energetic rhythms, to better understand the vital situation.
  8. The Tao of the configuration the own destiny. The query of the ancient Chinese oracle the I Ching

Health occurs when we support ourselves balanced in almost all eight aspects.

The doctrine of Taoist energy

  • Wu Chi. The invisible, the unlimited, the origin and primitive state to which everything returns. Wu like as the state of non-being, the Emptiness.
  • Chi. Vital energy. Chi changes its shape according to its density and vibration
  • Original human force. It is a form of Chi, it is the original force that is determined by hereditary factors, as well as the moment and the circumstances of our conception. It is our driving force that activates and maintains the functions of all the organs and glands. It is the foundation of the Chi of the kidneys and sexual force
  • Energy exchange Yin Yang. The eternal exchange between Yin and Yang is a principle of both duality and unity. A principle to recognize the opposite poles, and in this way to better balance health and life.
  • The three treasures. Heaven, Human Being, Earth. Body, breathing, spirit. Shen (head), Chi (heart), Ching Chi (center, hara).
  • The energy and the transformation phases of the 5 elements. Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal.
  • The meridians, the energy channels. The whole body is traversed by energetic channels, which are connected to each other. the meridians supply the body with vital energy. There are twelve main meridians. And eight special meridians, Ren Mai, Yin force flow, Du Mai Yang force flow. The meridians connect all the energy points together
  • The minor energy circuit. Ren Mai from the perineum on the front of the body to the palate. Du Mai from the perineum through the back of the body to the palate.

About the holistic duality. Yin-Yang theory explanation:
Yin-Yang like the two opposite forces that unify to form the whole.
Nothing is purely Yin or Yang
Yin -
Like the stillness and the darkness
Yang +
Like the movement and the light

Sweet and spicy
Salty, bitter and sour.

The principles of extremes:
When the balance of Yin Yang become of one site, the system transform into its opposite.
Examples:
1.      Extreme activity Yang, requires rest Yin.
2.      High pressure Yang can result in a stroke causing paralysis Yin.
3.      Excessive cold Yin that caused frostbite will have a hot burning sensation Yang.
4.      Excess caffeine or refined sugar Yang can result in a energy crash Yin.
“For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction” (Newton's, third law).
Apply It  to your life to become holistically healthy.
The balance of Yin Yang bring to you and optimal health and spirituality. You must be present and pay attention to the continuous transformation of Yin Yang, to flow and become like a river. Health is the result of that Yin Yang balance.

The four basic substance of the body

  1. Chi , the vital energy. To start the process for example of transformation, to move, distribute and maintain body fluids. To protect the body
  2. The heat, Yang. To warm the body and maintain body temperature, necessary in the transformation of nutrients into blood.
  3. The blood, liquids, Xue and Jin Ye. They have the functions of feeding the whole body, of supplying it and moistening it.
  4. The substance, the Ching. The principal function is to store the vital force.
